TASKS
• Define new database structures;
• Define data conversion strategy;
• Define database conversion specifications;
• Customize database conversion routines;
• Finalize conversion strategy;
• Works with the project team to generate new databases;
• Work very closely with the project teams in order to maintain and safeguard databases;
• Identify requirements for improvements to existing databases by determining users’ information access requirements and system performance;
• Develops and maintain data structures, stored procedures and triggers and views;
• Develop and implement procedures that will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data stored in the database;
• Develop and implement security procedures for the database, including access and user account management;
• Advise programmers, analysts, and users about the efficient use of the database;
• Maintain configuration control of the database;
• Perform and/or coordinate changes to the database design;
• Develop and coordinate back-up, disaster recovery and virus protection procedures;
• Manages the migration of objects from development, testing, training, and production environments.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • have a college diploma or university degree in an IT discipline
  • have a minimum 10 years experience within the last 12 years in management of databases
  • in-depth knowledge of database management practices
  • knowledge of IT trends and practices
  • knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle databases or both
  • capablility of communicating verbally and in writing in both official languages
  • have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal training in Project Management from a recognized institution, at the discretion of the House of Commons
